Tony Kosub will work to…
- Stop the conversion of free roads into toll roads and end the diversion of gas tax funds away from transportation
- Repeal the gross margins tax (expansion of the franchise tax) hurting small business
- Lower property taxes and unfair appraisals to help us prosper again
- Support a Constitutional Amendment requiring two-thirds of the Legislature to approve ANY tax increase
- Protect private property rights and end eminent domain abuse
- Halt the use of eminent domain to build a foreign-controlled Trans-Texas Corridor: "Government has no other end, but the preservation of property" --John Locke
- Reverse the trend of bigger government, higher taxes, and greater government intrusion into our everyday lives
- Secure our borders and stop the flood of illegal immigration that strains our social services, our criminal justice systems and drives up the cost of health care
- Repeal legislation making college tuition unaffordable for families
- Improve the quality of education at every level so every young person thrives and reaches one's promise
- Defend the unborn, protect the sanctity of life, and protect traditional marriage
- Strongly support the Second Amendment
- Make state government more efficient and return surplus revenues to the taxpayers
- Work to create a positive business environment that will enhance job creation
He sees families crushed under the weight of higher taxes and the entrepreneurial spirit being quashed by an ever-increasing tax burden and the strange-hold of government bureaucracy. Since 70% of all new jobs come from small business, the Legislature's new tax on small business threatens our state's economic vitality. It's time to get government off our backs so we can prosper again. Tony Kosub will respond to the needs of this community, truly representing YOU.
The incumbent by contrast...
- Voted for every piece of toll legislation since 2001, including tolling existing freeways, market-based tolls (or "whatever the market will bear" in a Robin Hood scheme tolling one corridor to pay for others), the Trans Texas Corridor, putting our highways under the control of foreign companies, paying losing bidders up to $1 million, ending requirement of lowest bid contracts, and even voted to allow no bid contracts (HB 3588, SB 2702, SB 792, HB 2661, HB 3775).
- Voted for the gross income tax on businesses (HB 3) also known as the gross margins tax, which is the most expansive tax increase on business in recent history.
- Voted for HB 3015, which resulted in doubling and even tripling tuition at public universities.
- Sponsored legislation to allow the government to collect a facial recognition database on law-abiding motorists when seeking/renewing driver's licenses (SB 945).
- Introduced HB 2337 that would have allowed the government to monitor/conduct surveillance on law-abiding citizens without their knowledge or consent.
- Named one of the worst legislators of the year in 1995 & 1997 by Texas Monthly.
